Introduction

Alberto Almarza introduces how we should consider technique and musicality in our practice and interpretation. He guides us through helpful perspectives that will serve our practice.

Segmentation

Alberto Almarza takes us through his practice process of segmentation. He talks about using technical segments we are already comfortable with to achieve greater speed and dexterity for longer technical passages.

Technical Practice Strategies

Alberto Almarza offers six more strategies to achieve technical mastery of passages. Exploring all of these strategies will give us many options to solve any technical problem when learning repertoire.

Alberto Almarza

Described as a virtuoso flutist by the Boston Globe, Alberto Almarza brings a unique and passionate approach to music. His versatility and musicianship have led him to perform and record some of the most adventurous and challenging pieces from the music of today as well as works from the standard repertoire and Baroque literature on period instruments. Almarza serves on the faculty of Carnegie Mellon University.
