Introduction

In this video, Chelsea Tanner talks about how to use this book of daily exercises, and what fundamentals we can explore through these exercises.

Exercise No. 1

Chelsea Tanner walks us through the aspects of our flute playing we can improve through this scaler exercise. She speaks about fundamental aspects of playing that are relevant to all exercises.

Exercise No. 2

Chelsea Tanner walks us through the aspects of our flute playing we can improve through this scaler exercise. Be sure to listen to the Exercise No. 1 video before exploring No. 2.

Exercise No. 3

Chelsea Tanner explores T&G No. 3 and walks us through the benefits of changing the emphasis within scales, and where to put our focus.

Exercise No. 4

The well-loved exercise, T&G No. 4, offers a pattern of major and minor scales. Chelsea Tanner guides us through creative ways to practice this exercise to learn these patterns and increase our endurance.

Exercise No. 5

We explore chromatic scales in T&G No. 5 with the goal of smooth and speedy finger connections. Chelsea Tanner talks about how the balance of the instrument plays into this fundamental scale.

Exercise No. 6

T&G No. 6 explores the intervals of thirds and sixths. Chelsea Tanner guides us through ways to improve the flexibility of sound in large intervals at every tempo.

Exercise No. 7

Chelsea Tanner explores T&G No. 7 and the challenging cross fingering patterns in the middle register. She offers ways to help finger connection and consistency of sound throughout this exercise.

Exercise No. 8

Chelsea Tanner walks us through T&G No. 8 as we explore arpeggios rooted in the first octave. She offers ways to increase the quality of the sound among all registers as we switch between them.
